Christine was born and raised on the West side of Chicago.  She grew up in a large family, living in a 2-flat just upstairs from her grandparents.  Through daily contact with them, she learned at a very young age just how important it is to have the help, wisdom and guidance of the elderly in one’s life.  Her grandparents taught her to cherish each and every member of her family for the special contributions they bring.  Through the years Christine raised her own daughter and watched her develop a special bond with her parents.  This only reinforced the importance of having the elderly involved in her daily life.

Years ago, Christine had a health-related issue and went to many specialists to find a solution.  After many months of tests and therapies, her friend recommended a massage therapist who finally gave Christine the help she needed.  It was then that Christine started thinking about possibly becoming a massage therapist.  When she found herself unemployed, she decided to go back to school and start this new career.

After graduating from Cortiva Institute – Chicago School of Massage Therapy, Christine began working as an Independent Contractor at a Chiropractic and Wellness Clinic.  It was there Christine learned the importance of preventative medicine and overall wellbeing.  She also started regular community outreach work, volunteering to provide massage therapy for the residents and staff of Bethesda Home and Retirement Center in Chicago.

Christine’s goal is to help not only herself, but also her family and as many people as possible live to enjoy a healthy old age.  Christine’s passion for massage therapy brings her a great deal of joy as she helps people enrich their lives through healthy living.  Her hope is that ElderCare Massage Chicago will touch the lives of many and encourage family involvement in every stage of life.

Rebecca is originally from Kentucky, where she has many fond, multi-generational memories from her family’s annual reunion.  At the reunions, the elder generations always took center stage, imparting the stories, music and traditions of the family.

Before becoming a massage therapist, Rebecca spent several years working in the senior care field.  She has worked with seniors ranging from active independent living residents to those in need of total care.  Her work includes experience at senior living communities and home health care agencies.  While her work was mainly administrative, she found that the most fulfilling interactions were those with the residents of the community or the clients of the home care agency.  She still cherishes the thank you letters from the residents of a retirement community where she worked to help assist with and coordinate moves.

It was this work with seniors that led Rebecca to become a massage therapist.  While working with people in the later stages of dementia, she found that often the most meaningful interactions involved nothing more than a gentle touch, given with loving intention.  While in school, Rebecca made the resolution to give back to the community that gave her this insight, Bethesda Home and Retirement Center in Chicago.  Happily, she met Christine in massage school and now they both enjoy providing massage therapy to residents.

Rebecca now combines her experience in senior care with knowledge of the benefits and application of massage therapy to craft thoughtful, effective sessions for her clients.  She looks forward to building ElderCare Massage Chicago into a business that will not only provide massage therapy to elders around Chicagoland, but also educate and inform their entire support network.
